Woman, 100, to walk around car park 100 times
A 100-year-old woman is raising funds for her fellow care home residents by walking 100 laps of the car park.
Doris Maslen, a resident at Marden Court in Calne, Wiltshire, walks up to two laps a day and has already raised more than half of her £500 target.
She hopes to finish the 100 laps by the end of June.
Ms Maslen, who turns 101 next month, said: "I was asked whether I would do this and I thought 'it's not for me, it's for this place and they are so wonderful'. They really are, I'm not putting it on."
She added: "They're so kind and considerate. I thought I have to do it, to make life as good as it can be for them."
Ms Maslen moved into Marden Court in July 2023, and has lived in Calne and the surrounding area since she was 12 years old.
The funds raised by her challenge will be used by the care home’s amenities fund, which is managed by residents.
A recent initiative, paid for through the fund, is a wheelchair accessible raised flower bed, which is still in the process of being built.
Ms Maslen added: "I have never been a sporty person, but I cycled everywhere in my younger years because that was the way from one place to another."
Ms Maslen's family told the BBC they are "very proud" of her.
