Woman’s fury as ex mum-in-law goes rogue

As if relationships with your ex aren’t tricky enough, think about the political nightmare than ensues when your ex-partner’s mum oversteps the mark.

It’s something one woman had to deal with when she came home one day to find her former mother-in-law had attacked her daughter’s beautiful hair with a pair of scissors.

Taking to the online forum Mumsnet to explain the situation, user Pandapanda1 revealed how she asked her ex to babysit their daughter after she fell ill at school.

With both of them at work, the six-year-old was left in the care of her ex’s mum.

Upon picking her daughter up, the mum reveals she had the shock of her life when she was faced with a newly fringed daughter, after the mum-in-law decided to hack at her child's hair without permission.

“When MIL [mother-in-law] was looking after DD, MIL took it upon herself to cut all DD's hair off. And give her a fringe!!!” the mum wrote.

“It's gone from being long, blonde, beautiful waves to a shoulder length bob.

I am beyond angry. I've had no explanation from MIL or ex who both appear to think I am overreacting.”

Later revealing her daughter hated the haircut and wouldn't stop crying, the post sparked hundreds of responses, with some commenters quick to side with the mum, saying they’d be outraged as well.

“I would be fuming! Even if it were DD's idea, MIL had absolutely no right to do that,” wrote one. “Unfortunately, as your ex doesn't have a problem with it, there's not much you can do.”

“It strikes me this is about more than just a hair cut,” added another.
